Infineon Technologies Introduces EZ-USB FX10 for Advanced USB Connectivity

Category articles

Infineon Technologies AG (FSE: IFX / OTCQX: IFNNY) has expanded its EZ-USB™ family of programmable USB peripheral controllers with the introduction of the EZ-USB FX10. This latest addition to the family is designed to meet the highest performance requirements in AI, imaging, and emerging applications, offering enhanced connectivity with USB 10Gbps and LVDS interfaces.

Enhanced Performance and Bandwidth

The EZ-USB FX10 significantly increases total bandwidth by up to three times compared to its predecessors. It achieves this through its fast connectivity features, making it a highly efficient solution for developers working on advanced USB devices.

Powerful Features of EZ-USB FX10

Equipped with dual ARM® Cortex®-M4 and M0+ core CPUs, the EZ-USB FX10 boasts a 512 KB flash, 128 KB SRAM, and 128 KB ROM, along with seven serial communication blocks (SCBs). It also features a cryptography accelerator and a high-bandwidth data subsystem, enabling direct memory access (DMA) data transfers between LVDS/LVCMOS and USB ports at speeds of up to 10 Gbps. The controller is further enhanced with an additional 1 MB of SRAM for USB data buffering and provides USB-C connector orientation detection and flip-mux functionality, streamlining the design process.

Space-Efficient and Design-Friendly

With its compact 10 x 10 mm² BGA package, the EZ-USB FX10 is ideal for space-constrained applications. It supports USB-C direct connection without the need for a high-speed signal multiplexer, simplifying the design process and optimizing the Bill of Materials (BOM).

Development Support and Integration

The EZ-USB FX10 is supported by a Quick Start Development Kit, which includes firmware and a configuration tool for easy integration. The development kit (DVK) also features a standard FPGA Mezzanine Card (FMC) connector for effortless connection to FPGA boards and an all-in-one programming and debugging accessory board. Additionally, a comprehensive set of application notes for both hardware and software design is provided, aiding developers in creating high-performance devices across various applications.

Official Launch and Availability

The EZ-USB FX10 will be officially launched at the International Technical Exhibition on Image Technology and Equipment (ITE 2023) in Yokohama, Japan, on December 6. This launch marks a significant milestone for Infineon Technologies in providing advanced USB connectivity solutions to meet the evolving needs of the tech industry.
