Bluetooth Mouse not Working – How to Fix?

Laptop users often use a Bluetooth mouse because it is more convenient than a touchpad. The demand for wireless mice is growing, even among desktop users. Sometimes, the Bluetooth mouse may stop working or even malfunction. It is possible for your Bluetooth mouse not to work the first time you connect it to your computer.

The mouse might also stop working if you update your OS. Bluetooth pairing issues could also be an issue. The mouse might not work if your computer is asleep or you return to it. Here are some solutions to Bluetooth mouse problems.

Different Ways To Fix Your Bluetooth Mouse Not Functioning –

There are many reasons why your Bluetooth mouse doesn’t work. The solution is different. To fix the Bluetooth mouse problem, you will need to test each solution individually.

1. Install the latest driver for your BT mouse

Driver malfunctioning and outdated drivers are the main causes of Bluetooth mouse problems. You should update the Bluetooth mouse driver to see if the problem has been resolved. These are the steps you need to take.

Step 1 Click the Search button and type “device manager” in the search box. Open the Device Manager.

Step 2 After Device Manager has opened, navigate to Mice and Other Point Devices. Right-click on your Bluetooth mouse and locate it there. Click on the Update Driver option.

Step 3 Next screen, click Search automatically for drivers. Wait for Windows’s search to find and install the most recent driver.

Step 4 : Turn on your computer and connect to your Bluetooth mouse.

2. Adjust Power & Slum Settings

Strangely, your computer’s power and sleep settings and any wireless devices that are connected to it have a direct connection. You will need to adjust the power and sleep settings of your computer in order to check if your Bluetooth mouse works properly. These are the steps you need to take.

Step 1 Click the Start menu button to open Settings app

Step 2 Double-click on the System option in the Settings app

Step 3 Select Power & Sleep. Make sure you have not checked the Wi-Fi options.

Step 4 : Turn on your computer again to see if it is working.

3. Check Bluetooth Service

Your Bluetooth mouse will not connect to your computer if Bluetooth service isn’t running on your computer. The service might not start or terminate even if you turn on Bluetooth. These are the steps you need to take in order to verify that BT service is available on your computer.

Step 1 Press the WIN + R keys for START.

Step 2 Enter “services.msc”, and hit the Enter key. This will open the Services window.

Step 3 – Go to Bluetooth Support Service and search for If the status isn’t running, right-click on it and click on Start.

You don’t need to restart the computer. It is important to pair your BT mouse with your computer.

4. The Troubleshooter

Windows includes a system troubleshooter that can help diagnose any hardware problem. If you have a problem with your BT mouse you can run the troubleshooter to see if it solves the issue. These are the steps you should follow.

Step 1 Click the Start menu button. Open Settings app.

Step 2 Double-click Update & Security.

Step 3 Click on Troubleshoot to launch the troubleshooter.

5. Restart Bluetooth Mouse

Restarting the mouse is one of the best ways to get your BT mouse working again. Turn off the button on your mouse to turn it off. If it does not, turn it off again. You can also restart your Bluetooth mouse via Control Panel. These are the steps.

Step 1 Click the Start menu button to search Control Panel. Open Control Panel app.

Step 2 Double-click Hardware and Sound options.

Step 3 Click on Add a Device option under Devices and Printers.

Step 4 – Choose your Bluetooth mouse, follow the instructions on screen to turn it on and then reconnect to your computer.

Make sure that your mouse is on, and that it is in the discoverable.

6. Bluetooth Mouse Frequency Adjustment

Bluetooth mouse works at a specific frequency. Frequency disruption is possible due to electronic gadgets. This is possible with any wireless device. Open the Bluetooth mouse utility software and search for the option to adjust mouse frequency.

7. Bluetooth Mouse Driver Rollback

You should back up your Bluetooth mouse driver if you have recently updated it manually or automatically. If your mouse is not working properly, roll it back. These are the steps you should follow.

Step 1 : Go To Start> Device Manager.

Step 2 Move to Mice and Pointing Devices. Right-click your Bluetooth mouse.

Step 3 – Choose Properties option. After the Properties window has opened, click on Driver tab.

Step 4 Click the Roll Back Driver button. Follow the instructions on screen to reboot your computer.

8. Adjust Power Management

Your laptop will disconnect wireless devices when it goes into power-saving mode. You need to adjust power management to ensure that your connection is not cut.

Step 1 : Go To Start> Device Manager.

Step 2 After Device Manager has opened, expand Uni Serial Bus and double-click the USB Root Hub.

Step 3 After the Properties window has opened, click on Power Management tab.

Step 4 : Uncheck the box “Allow computer shut down the device to conserve power” and then click the OK button.

9. Strengthen Bluetooth Signal

The Bluetooth connection between the computer and mouse will be broken if any object blocks the signal. You will need to connect the Bluetooth mouse to your wireless transceiver. If you’re using a Bluetooth keyboard to solve the problem, turn it off and only connect the mouse. You can also change the position of your wireless transceiver to see if that makes any difference.

10. Update Windows Version

The last thing you need to do is update Windows. You should first check for any updates. Any issue, such as Bluetooth connectivity, can be fixed by a new update. These are the steps you need to take.

Step 1 : Go To Start> Settings App.

Step 2 Click Update & Security.

Step 3 Click on Windows Update to check for updates.
