Infineon presents EiceDRIVER™ F3 Enhanced

A high level of system efficiency is a crucial prerequisite for power electronics of the future, which is the driving force behind the growth of ever higher power densities. But, the system’s high values are at risk if short-circuit events happen. To avoid this and provide systems that offer the highest level of security, Infineon Technologies AG (FSE: IFX / OTCQX: IFNNY) has expanded its range of isolated EiceDRIVER Gate drivers that are enhanced with the F3 enhanced (1ED332x) series. This family of gate drivers offers secure and reliable protections to stop destructive short-circuits. This permits both traditional power switches, including IGBTs as well as CoolSIC broad-bandgap units to be secured. The driver family was designed to be used in industrial drives solar systems, solar power systems as well as electric vehicle charging energy storage systems commercial air conditioning, and many other uses.

The EiceDRIVERF3 Enhanced is contained in 300 millimeter wide body DSO 16 package with a large creepage distance of eight millimeters. Single-channel isolation gate drivers provide an impressive high common mode transient immunity (CMTI) that can reach 300 kV/us, and typical output currents between 8.5 and 8.5 A. The precise propagation delay match permits a low deadtime, thus increasing system efficiency and reducing distortion in harmonics. The driver family offers active shutdown and short-circuit clamping and the activated Miller clamp.

The devices are built for broad power ranges, and they provide the absolute output of 40 V voltage. Additionally this driver series is ideal to operate at extreme temperatures as well as in fast switching situations, making it suitable for environments with harsh conditions. This is why it is ideal for IGBTs that are conventional such as IGBT7, IGBT7 as well as silicon carbide (SiC) MOSFETs. Additionally, due to its ability to operate at 2300 V and power switch support, it can be used over 1200 V block voltage. UL 1577 as well as VDE 0884-11 (reinforced isolation) certifications assure high reliability and ensure longevity of service.
