Synaptics® Incorporated (Nasdaq: SYNA) has recently announced the addition of the SYN43711 to its robust wireless connectivity portfolio, designed specifically for the Internet of Things (IoT). The SYN43711, a Wi-Fi™ 6E and Bluetooth™ 5.3 combo system on chip (SoC), is engineered to cater to the high-performance segment of the market, targeting applications that demand enhanced Wi-Fi throughput, range, and seamless network interoperability.
Brandon Bae, Senior Director of Product Marketing at Synaptics, emphasized the SYN43711’s role in Synaptics’ comprehensive ‘Sense, Process, Connect’ strategy. This high-performance Wi-Fi and Bluetooth solution is tailored for a wide array of network edge applications, including video distribution and AI-enabled compute, where consistent high throughput, secure and reliable data communication, and low latency are crucial.
The SYN43711, a single-stream (1×1, 600 Mbps) device, offers a cost-effective, small-form-factor alternative to Synaptics’ dual-stream (2×2, 1200 Mbps) SYN43756E and the Triple ComboTM (SYN438x series). This expansion of the product line provides customers with more versatile options to suit their specific application needs.
Innovative features of the SYN43711 include support for Wi-Fi Sensing, utilizing a proprietary algorithm to analyze Channel State Information (CSI). This enables Wi-Fi-connected embedded devices to detect human presence, estimate motion, approximate location, and sense subtle gestures and movements, such as breathing. This technology opens new possibilities for smart home and industrial applications.
The SYN43711 operates across tri-band frequencies, including the 2.4, 5, and 6 GHz bands. It features Synaptics’ Smart Co-ExTM technology, ensuring unparalleled Wi-Fi/Bluetooth coexistence. Compliant with IEEE 802.11ax, the SoC also supports Bluetooth 5.3 with LE Audio, enabling multiple concurrent Bluetooth connections and audio streams, including AuracastTM. A shared Wi-Fi and Bluetooth receive signal path in the SYN43711 eliminates the need for an external RF switch, maintaining high sensitivity and efficient performance.
Designed for versatility, the SYN43711 is available in two widely used WLBGA packages: standard and plated-through-hole (PTH) compatible. The PTH option notably lowers PCB implementation costs, making it an attractive solution for a wide range of manufacturers.
Currently, Synaptics is sampling the SYN43711 to key customers, with full production quantities expected to be available in Q1 of 2024. This new offering from Synaptics is set to revolutionize the IoT sector by providing a high-performance, adaptable, and cost-effective solution for next-generation wireless applications.
