onsemi to Showcase Latest Power and Sensing Solutions at APEC 2023 in Orlando

Category articles

Onsemi, a leading provider of intelligent power and sensing technologies, is set to showcase its latest solutions at the Applied Power Electronics Conference (APEC) in Orlando from March 19-23. APEC is considered the leading conference in North America for the power electronics industry, focusing on practical and applied aspects of power system design.

Visitors to the Onsemi booth will have the opportunity to view a diverse range of demos designed for the industrial and automotive markets. This includes an area dedicated to the Onsemi EliteSiC Silicon Carbide (SiC) family, complete with an EV charging station. The booth will also showcase the latest industrial power supply and charging solutions, including a 6.6/11 kW PFC inverter, an ultra-high density 240 Watt (W) USB PD 3.1 solution, and a 600 W battery charger. In addition, the booth will feature an autonomous mobile robot with a collaborative robot (cobot) arm, a crowd-favorite from previous exhibitions.

One of the highlights of the event will be the introduction of a new state-of-the-art simulator for the EliteSiC family. This online tool allows engineers to virtually test and validate EliteSiC products through an expansive library of customizable circuit technologies. When the simulator is used with advanced PLECS models, engineers can gather meaningful insights into the application at a very early stage of the design cycle without relying on hardware fabrication and testing. Onsemi technical experts will deliver two presentations on the new tool: ‘Online SiC System Level Simulator Driven by Advanced PLECS Models’ by Didier Balocco on Tuesday, March 21, from 3:45-4:15 p.m., and ‘A Virtual Prototyping System for Silicon Carbide Power Modules’ by James Victory on Thursday, March 23, from 11:30-1:30 p.m.

Alongside the simulator, Onsemi will also announce a new series of 1200 V Trench Field Stop VII (FS7) IGBTs. These devices provide low switching loss and optimized switching for high-efficiency operation in various industrial applications, including motor control, uninterruptable power supply (UPS), and solar applications.

Overall, Onsemi’s presence at APEC 2023 will showcase the company’s commitment to providing innovative and intelligent power and sensing technologies that address the needs of the industrial and automotive markets. By leveraging the latest advancements in simulation tools and semiconductor devices, Onsemi is poised to help drive the next wave of innovation in power electronics.
