Diodes Incorporated (Diodes) (Nasdaq DIOD) has unveiled its PowerDI (r)8080-5, an ingenious high-current thermally efficient power device that is designed to meet the requirements in electric vehicle (EV) application. The first product that will be introduced within the PowerDI (r)8080-5 package is the DIODES(tm) DMTH4M70SPGWQ, a 40V automotive-compliant MOSFET with an average RO DS(ON) of only 0.54m with the gate drive voltage of 10V, and its gates charge is only 117nC. This world-class performance allows manufacturers of high-power automotive BLDC motor drives, DC-DC conversions chargers, and other systems that improve system efficiency , while also ensuring that power dissipation stays at a minimum.
PowerDI (r)8080-5 PowerDI (r)8080-5 package has 64mm PCB footprint 2. and is 40 percent less than the footprint of TO263 (D2PAK) packaging format. The package also has an off-board footprint of 1.7mm and is 63% less than the profile of a TO263. The bonding of the copper clip between the device and terminals allows for a lower junction-to-case resistance , which is 0.36degC/W. This allows that the PowerDI (r)8080-5 to handle currents as high as 460A , and provide the power density of eight times higher than the typical TO263 package.
The DMTH4M70SPGWQ has been certified AEC-Q101 capable of PPAP and produced in IATF 16949 accredited manufacturing facilities. Its gull-wing leads aid in an optical inspection (AOI) and also as increasing the efficiency of temperature cycling. The device is priced at $4.99 in quantities of 2000 pieces.
