CAPXX Unveils DMV750: The World’s Thinnest and Most Powerful 3V Prismatic Supercapacitor for IoT and Mission-Critical Devices

CAPXX (LSE:CPX) is the world’s leading producer of ultra-thin cylindrical, prismatic, and Lithium-Ion supercapacitors has unveiled the DMV750 super-thin 2.2mm 3-volt supercapacitor that is prismatic designed to deliver high performance to IoT medical, IoT and other mission-critical and space-constrained electronic devices.

Supercapacitors are energy storage devices that bridge the gap between traditional capacitors and batteries. They are able to store much more energy than traditional capacitors, while still being able to release their energy quickly, making them ideal for high-power applications. Unlike batteries, which store energy chemically, supercapacitors store energy electrostatically. This means they can be charged and discharged much more quickly than batteries, making them ideal for applications where quick bursts of power are needed. In addition, supercapacitors have a much longer lifespan than batteries, as they can be charged and discharged many more times without losing their effectiveness.

This 3V prismatic supercap with multiple uses can be used to support the standard 3V coin cell battery . It can prolong its life and performance or replace a heavy 3V cylindrical supercap, which can save space in the design, or even completely replace them in the event that micro energy harvesting is able to generate sufficient solar energy, vibrating and other energy from the environment to charge the supercapacitor in a highly efficient way for battery-free devices that are sustainable.

With 23% more energy than the 2.7-volt supercap in the same size The 3V DMV750 supercap delivers high-peak pulse power , enabling batteries-free or more efficient battery-powered applications. Its dimensions are 21 millimetres x 14 millimetres 2.2 millimetres. It operates between -20degC and +85degC.

“It is estimated that over 5 billion 3V coin cell batteries and 12 billion IoT devices are sold annually,” explained Anthony Kongats, CEO at CAP-XX. “While not all devices will require a supercapacitor, a large number would benefit from using our powerful DMV750 supercapacitor to store and release the energy needed for peak power functions like data transmission.”

3-Volt DMV750 applications comprise:

The harvesting of energy for wireless remote sensors wireless HVAC sensors, wireless sensors for heating and actuators
* Asset tracking
* RTC and memory backup power
* Maximum load shaving when set in conjunction with a 3V coin cell (CR2032 for instance)

Kongats added, “Our DMV750 ultra-thin prismatic 3V supercap provides design engineers with multiple options to overcome power delivery challenges in space-constrained, mission-critical and sustainable electronic devices.”
